Why was Slingshot created?
Slingshot was created after a small team of developers and designers at Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development became dissatisfied with the options available for electronically sending and receiving large files both within and outside the Company.

Email has tiny size limits and filters out many types of files, FTP and shared servers require extensive management and user credentials and third-party software has a steep learning curve and isn't consistent across vendors. Not all outside users can install browser plugins or third party applications on their systems to transfer files.

Slingshot was created to offer a plain, simple and ubiquitous means to send large files, of any type, to or from anyone on business for the Walt Disney Company on a system controlled internally by the Company.
