Help Sending Files
How long will my files last? What happens when they expire?
Each Slingshot (file transaction) has an expiration date, set by the sender. You can see the expiration date on your receipt email, the "Your Slingshots" dashboard, and the Manage page.
What happens when a Slingshot expires?
Once a Slingshot expires,
all files and related data are permanently deleted from the server. This is automatic and cannot be reversed. No backups are kept for expired files, and neither senders nor recipients can recover them.
Can I renew or extend the expiration?
If you are the sender and your files have not yet expired, you can renew or extend the expiration date from the "Your Slingshots" dashboard or the Manage page. Click the "Renew" button and select a new expiration date. Once renewed, recipients can continue to access the files until the new expiration date.
What if my files have already expired?
If the expiration date has passed, the files are gone and cannot be restored. Recipients will see a message that the files are no longer available. If you need to resend files, you must upload and send them again as a new Slingshot.
Tip: Set an expiration date that gives your recipients enough time to download their files, but remember that shorter expiration periods improve security.
