Help Sending Files

How do I increase the security of/encrypt my files?
The developers of Slingshot take the security of your data very seriously. For more information about how Slingshot protects your files please see How secure is Slingshot?

If you are particularly conerned about the security of a set of files we recommend encrypting them yourself on your local computer and then using Slingshot to send the encrypted copy to your recipients. Then, using a method other than Slingshot (such as phone, seperate email, etc.), you can communicate the encryption key/password to your recipients so they can unlock the encrypted file on their end.

The software and methods used to encrypt files on your computer vary from system to system. WinZip, for example, has an option to encrypt a .zip archive of files. If you are unsure how to encrypt/decrypt files, please contact your local I.T. support group.
